Shivaji was born in the year 1630 at Shivneri fort, which is near to Pune. The
birthdate of Shivaji is 19 February 1630. Shahaji Bhosale, father of Shivaji
was the leader of Adilshah of Vijapur (Today called as Banglore). His mother
was Jijabai. She was from Jadhav family of Sindkhed. Shivaji’s elder brother
name was also Sambhaji. Sambhaji lived with father Shahaji in Vijapur.
When Shivaji was a child, the present date
Maharashtra was called as ‘Deccan’ (Dakkhan). And was ruled by Mughal and Nizam
emperors (called Sultan). At that time many Maratha were leaders of Mughalshahi
or Nizamshahi.
